British non-state funerals that are particularly memorable to us over the past four decades

In 1984 police officer Yvonne Fletcher was killed outside the Lybian Embassy in London whilst on duty. Her funeral service was held at Salisbury Cathedral and her ashes are buried at an undisclosed location.


In 1999 television presenter and journalist Jill Dando was killed outside her London home. Her funeral service was held at Clarence Park Baptist Church in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, and she was buried at Ebdon Road Cemetery also in Weston-super-Mare.


In 2000 Reg Kray died shortly after his release from prison on compassionate grounds. His funeral service was held at St Matthew's Church, Bethnal Green, London and he was buried at Chingford Mount Cemetery in London.


In 2018 entertainer Ken Dodd died at the age of ninety. Sir Ken's funeral service was held at Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral and he was buried at Allerton Cemetery in Liverpool.
